Investments in humans are essential while we are adopting AI and advanced technology. Here are some of the reasons why:
Adoption to Realize Investment Value
Unlocking people’s willingness to learn during technology transformation is one of the critical steps for change management. Low adoption rates of technology undermine the investments and fail to deliver the kind of productivity increases that great technology promises.
Avoid a Skills Gap
Invest in your workforce to give them new core skills required by AI, at least 10% of the entire workforce is predicted to have their tasks affected by AI, and 20% will see half their tasks automated. The skills to navigate these new tools will require substantial upskilling across the organization. Large-scale research indicates that business leaders acknowledge at 89% that the workforce needs their skills improved to address AI, but “only 6% said they had begun upskilling in ‘a meaningful way.’”
People and Processes Matter Most
The research shows that when it comes to technology transformation, it is people and processes that matter the most. Ways of working, business processes, organizational design, talent and skills development, change management, and community are the top priorities.
If we fail to match our technology and AI investments with human upskilling, we will not only turn really good software into shelfware, but we will put the organization in a skills deficit that may have dramatic consequences.
What We’re Doing About It
At Story Collaborative we’ve always been committed to training and capacity building, but we’re added additional modules of training to all of our technology onboarding services to ensure that your team is not only learning to use the onboard AI tools that are included in HubSpot software, but that they learn to work together more effectively in that context. The teamwork implications of AI are significant, and building strong teams creates an environment where new technology can be implemented effectively. Our trainings are included at no additional cost with all onboarding and are above and beyond the certification training provided by HubSpot.
While the technology firms race to embed AI in what they offer, we believe that companies should be equally as committed to upskilling their humans.
